Though women are generally doing much of the works, the returns are tilted in favour of men. For instance, 70 per cent of the works are done by women but they enjoy only 10 per cent of the benefits, according to A.Muthamma, Sub-Collector, Union Territory of Puducherry.

She was speaking at the “National Integration Week” celebrations, observed as Women's Day, at Neyveli Lignite Corporation on Thursday.

Women have learnt to swim against the tide to prove their mettle in almost all spheres of activity. She called upon women to have self-confidence.

Physically and mentally they should emerge stronger and to achieve this they should go for periodical health check-up.

NLC Director (Project and Planning) R.Kandasamy said the onus was on women to inculcate sense of values among their children and to mould them into good citizens.

NLC Director (Power) J.Mahilselvan listed out the facilities provided by the NLC management for women employees.

Loganayagi and L.Rajeswari of the Women in Public Sector (WIPS), Mercy Mahilselvan and K.Usha, Head, ophthalmology wing, NLC general hospital, participated. The members of the WIPS, Bharata Kala Samiti, Neyveli Women's Club and students of the Sneha School staged cultural programmes.
