CHENNAI: Women today suffer twice as much as others because they are forced to give up their dreams for the sake of loved ones, according to Member of Parliament Kanimozhi. She was addressing the second day of the first World Wellness Women’s Congress here.

In spite of the awareness generated about women’s health, Ms. Kanimozhi said, 60 per cent of the women in India (including pregnant women) are anaemic, and this leads to further problems,” she said.

She urged women to find their inner selves and recognise their self-worth. Open International University for Complimentary Medicines (Colombo) Chairman Gitanjan Mendis agreed that a woman must take care of her own health before looking after others. To recognise their efforts in promoting holistic health, Life Positive magazine editor Suma Varughese and World Noni Research Foundation (WNRF) Research Specialist Rangadhar Satapathy were given “Best Wellness Editor” and “Best Wellness Doctor” awards respectively.
