Priyamvadha, Corporation Health Officer spotted a 60-year-old woman who was shivering with cold on the RTO Office Road in Sathuvachari here on Friday and offered her food and a shawl.

After obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the All Women Police Station, the Health Officer admitted her (who is yet to be identified) to the Old Age Home run by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Vellore district branch in Poigai village near here, with the help of A. Somasundaram, Deputy Director of Health Services, Vellore and the secretary of the IRCS, Vellore district branch and Era. Chandrasekaran, president of Udhavum Ullangal in the early hours of Saturday.

Mr. Chandrasekaran who took the woman to the police station offered a blanket to her and facilitated the issue of the NOC.

The old woman is yet to be identified
