District Crime Branch sleuths of the Coimbatore Rural police have arrested Sathyapriya, 29, on charges of duping investors. The police said that women residents of Kurumbapalayam invested money in the chit fund business Sathhyapriya managed. As she delayed repayment, women started complaining. She also did not give money to those who had taken bids. Left with no choice, the women complained to the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore, who ordered the police to initiate action.
Newborn rescued
from well
Residents of Ashok Nagar, Kalapatti, rescued a new born baby from a well in the area on Sunday morning and took it to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where it is under treatment in the intensive care unit.
The baby boy is said to be a day old.
