A 50-year-old woman and her two-year-old grandson died on the spot after the vehicle in which they were travelling rammed the rear side of a stationary truck near Sankagiri on Salem – Bangalore National Highways in the early hours on Wednesday. The police said that five persons were on their way home to Dharmapuri in a vehicle driven by M. Mathiyalagan (24). While nearing Sankagiri, the vehicle rammed the truck resulting in Chinnathai of Pappireddipatti and her grandson losing their lives. Three of their relatives and the driver suffered injuries and were admitted to Government Hospital in Sankagiri and later shifted to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital. Sankagiri police have registered a case and are investigating.
