A 39-year-old woman from Arapalayam, who went missing on Tuesday evening, was found murdered with her body half burnt near Vadipatti on Wednesday morning.

The police said the body, bearing a stab wound on the neck, was found on the Vadipatti-Palaniyandavar Temple Road.

Initially, the body could not be identified.

Based on the complaint lodged by the Kulasekarankottai village administrative officer, Senthil Kumar, the Vadipatti police registered a case.

Meanwhile, the relatives of M. Mahalakshmi, of Arapalayam Cross Road had started searching for her who went missing after she left home for a nearby temple at around 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The relatives have identified the body, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Samayanallur), T. Kanthasorooban, said. Further investigations are on.
