KANCHEEPURAM: The body of a 35-year-old woman, which was fished out of the Manimangalam lake on June 5, has been identified as Paulmalar, secretary, women’s wing, K. K. Nagar unit of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

According to police, local people spotted a sack floating in the lake and dragged it to the bund. When they opened it, they found the body of a woman with hands and legs tied. Immediately, the Manimangalam police was informed, who recovered the body and registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances.

On Friday the identity of the woman was established as Paulmalar, wife of Kumaravel of K. K. Nagar, Chennai. Subsequently, the case has been changed as a murder case.
