Kumudhavalli of Muthukavundanpudur lost her gold chain weighing four sovereign to two unidentified persons who duped her saying they would polish the jewellery.

In her complaint to the Sulur Police, the woman said that when she was alone at her house, two persons had approached her saying they were into jewellery polishing business and that they would polish her chain.

When she did not trust them, they offered to polish her silver toe ring.

On seeing their work, she offered her gold chain.

Upon receiving the chain, the two asked her for cooker, turmeric powder and a few other items.

When she gave what they asked for, they also asked her for the chain. They then dropped all that she gave into the cooker and also sprinkled a powder they had and asked her to heat the cooker for 10 minutes to see the chain brand new.

After she opened the cooker, she found neither the chain nor the two persons, who had made good their escape.

Two held

Vadavalli Police have arrested Vinith Prasad and Ganesan on murder charges and are on the look out for their friends Vinod and Ramachandran.

The Police said that the four ganged up, entered into a verbal duel with Murugesan and his friends Ganesan and Karthik a few days ago near the liquor outlet at Vadavalli.

The verbal duel turned into a fight in which Vinith Prasad and friends thrashed Murugesan and friends.

They two groups had enmity and were construction workers. Of the two groups, Vinith Prasad and friends were from Theni district.

After the assault, the two groups got admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where Murugesan breathed his last on Wednesday.

His death made the police alter the section in the case from attempt to murder to murder and arrest the two. .

Drowns

Fifteen-year-old B. Sathish of Ma.Na.Ka. Street drowned in the Perur Periyakulam tank on Wednesday afternoon when he went there with friends for a bath.

The Perur Police said that the boy went to the tank with friends to have a bath, after his school had conducted a special class. The Police have begun investigations in to the incident. Sathish’s father Balasubramaniam is a goldsmith.
