A woman, P. Selvi (45), was killed when she had an accidental fall while getting down from the Tuticorin-Mysore Express here on Thursday evening.

The Railway police said that the woman, hailing from Coonoor, was returning home after attending the Soorasamharam festival in Tiruchendur.

She, along with a group of passengers, had boarded a reserved coach, though they had unreserved tickets.

Co-passengers had warned them that they could be fined for their unauthorised travel.

The group of passengers decided to board the unreserved coach.

When Selvi was alighting, the train started to move, after the halt. She sustained head injuries and died.
