Unidentified persons hacked a woman conservancy worker to death near Arapalayam bus stand here on Monday.

Police said that Manjula (39) wife of late Karuppiah of Manjalmedu Colony, near Arapalayam was working as a conservancy worker in the Corporation. She got employment on humanitarian grounds eight years ago after her husband died and she has four children. Preliminary investigations suggested that Manjula's two sons had recently objected to her relationship with another conservancy worker, who visited their house often. Similarly, the police are also examining whether it could be the handiwork of some others with whom she had previous enmity.

Karimedu police have registered a case of murder and the body was sent for post-mortem to the Government Rajaji hospital. Further investigation is on.
