The district police arrested a woman for conspiring to murder a man recently near Neravy on Monday. The accused, Ezhilarasi, was the second wife of slain liquor man Ramu, who was hacked to death. Ezhilarasi was traced to have masterminded the killing of Ayappan, the first accused surrendered in Ramu’s murder case. Ayappan was hacked to death by six unidentified men in early July, triggering suspicion of a possible revenge killing. The day after the killing, three persons had surrendered, which were however found to be bogus admissions of the crime. Police had later arrested Visu lias Vishawanathan, who had confessed to the involvement of Ezhilarasi and a mercenary group led by Soorai Kottai Raja. Police are on the trail of others involved.
