DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Monday said the petrol price hike would severely affect the people, but maintained that his party would uphold the ‘coalition dharma' on all occasions. Answering questions from reporters on the petrol price hike and BJP president Nitin Gatkari's strong criticism of it, Mr Karunanidhi said already his party had expressed its views on this issue. However, he said he would not react to the comments of others. When a reporter pointed out that Mamta Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, who is also in the UPA strongly criticised the petrol price hike, Mr Karunanidhi replied ‘No comments'. To a question on the delay in getting bail for his daughter Kanimozhi and moving the Delhi High Court for her bail, Mr Karunanidhi expressed the hope that at least in this court bail would be given.
