As part of the Wildlife Week celebrations, various competitions were organised at the Hosur Forest Division Office in Mathigiri recently.

Hundreds of students from several schools and colleges in the district had participated in the competitions.

Praveen P. Nair, Sub-Collector, Hosur, inaugurated the celebrations by planting tree saplings on the campus.

Students also planted the saplings along with the officials.

Prizes were distributed to winning students. On this occasion, identity cards were issued to 60 Village Forest Committee presidents.

District Forest Officer A.K. Ulaganathan addressed the importance of conserving ecosystem. Assistant Conservator of Forests A. Soundararajan and R. Kribashankar spoke. A. Babu, Ranger, Krishnagiri Forest Division, welcomed the gathering. Ramachandran, Ranger, Anchetti Forest Range, proposed a vote of thanks.
