Elephant chase abandoned

Attempts to chase a herd of wild elephants back into the Denkanikottai Reserve Forest had to be abandoned due to the birth of a new born elephant calf near Sanamavu Reserve Forest .The drive to chase the animals towards Denkanikottai , which began at around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, had to be abandoned as the herd walked back after reaching Agaram village.

S. Sukumar, Hosur Forest Ranger told the Hindu that it became difficult for the forest employees to continue with the chase on Friday night, as a calf delivered by a female elephant few days ago inside the Sanamavu RF was unable to walk along with other members in the group.
