Providing access to activity centres on either side of the road and allowing reasonable speeds for motorists are conflicting interests. Generally, one ways are not preferable in residential or commercial localities.
One ways can be effectively implemented if some kind of access lanes to facilitate two-way movement of pedestrians and cyclists are provided.
By encouraging non-motorised modes, it will lead to a sustainable transport system in the long run.
