Accent on safe driving to prevent accidents on roads

To increase awareness among road users to preventing accidents and first-aid measures for victims, a road safety awareness was held here recently.

Organised by Manipal Hospitals and St. John Ambulance, India, participants including drivers of bus, lorries, autorickshaws, school and college vehicles and the public were told about safe driving on roads to prevent accidents. Demonstration on first aid treatment, handling of the injured and safe transportation to the nearest hospital without aggravating the injuries was also explained.

City Police Commissioner K.C. Mahali said that increase in fatalities on the road is due to motorists not wearing helmets.
