TIRUNELVELI: The Tirunelveli City police arrested a history-sheeter and seized a country-made revolver and a sickle from him in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli City, Ashok Kumar Das, told reporters on Wednesday that a patrol team, led by the Perumalpuram Inspector, J. Nagarajan, spotted V. Nallakani (39) from Korampallam in Tuticorin district at KTC Nagar bus stop during a patrol.

Nallakani was wanted in connection with two murders and several robbery cases, Mr. Das said. He has also been cited as an accused in two robberies.

"He also has a role in the extortion case involving Samuel Nirmalkumar, an engineer from Sivakasi," Mr. Das said. During preliminary interrogation, Nallakani had reportedly confessed that he had planned to exterminate two persons from Palayamkottai.
