About 25 cans of water were supplied to the crew members of MT Pratibha Warna on Thursday at the outer anchorage of Chennai Port Trust.

International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Inspector, Chennai, K. Sreekumar and Seafarer Port Welfare Committee Chairman R. Shanmugam met the 29 crew members on Thursday following a letter sent by them to the Directorate General of Shipping on November 2, seeking drinking water, food and provisions.

Chennai Port Trust Chairman Atulya Misra said the Port extended logistical support to the two-member team which went to supply water cans and were ready to provide food and provisions as and when they asked for it.

Mr. Sreekumar said crew members of another vessel of Pratibha Shipping Company – MT Pratibha Neera – were in a situation similar to that of Pratibha Cauvery and Pratibha Warna with regard to non-payment of salaries.
