The water released from the Krishna Raja Sagar and Kabini dam by Karnataka reached Biligundlu, the entry/measuring point of the State in Krishnagiri district, on Wednesday night.
Sources in the Central Water Commission (CWC) told The Hindu that the inflow steadily increased, touching 1,500 cusecs on Thursday morning. The level increased by 30 cm overnight, the official said.
Water is expected to reach Mettur Dam on Thursday night after traversing about 70 km. Water reached Biligundlu on the day the Tamil Nadu government filed a contempt petition against Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and four others for not implementing the Supreme Court orders.
