About 150 scientific models developed by students of 110 schools were displayed at the Ariyalur education district-level science exhibition held at the Nirmala Girls Higher Secondary School here on Tuesday.
The exhibition is organised jointly by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology and the State School Education Department.
The students had displayed scientific models on the topics of science and technology, water management, health and lifestyle, non-conventional energy sources, protection of natural resources, increasing forest cover, mathematics, and sports.
E. Saravanavelraj, Collector, inaugurated the exhibition.
The Collector said the model developed by P. Kaviarasan of Panchayat Union Middle School, Devamangalam, won the first prize at the State-level exhibition and later a special prize at the national-level science exhibition held in New Delhi last month.
The Collector urged the students to try to win such laurels.
He said 10 top models would be given a cash award of Rs. 1,000 each.
The best exhibits selected at the revenue district-level exhibition would participate in the State-level science exhibition scheduled at Tambaram in Kancheepuram district from November 28 to 30.
District Education Officers Arulraj (Ariyalur), and Sivanandam (Udaiyarpalayam) were present.
