The district administration has cautioned drivers of autorickshaws against overloading of passengers, especially school children, in the vehicles.

Collector Jayashree Muralidharan, in a press release, said only three persons above the age of 14 can travel as passengers in an autorickshaw apart from the driver. The vehicles can carry up to five children below the age of 14. Violations with respect to permitted capacity would attract stern action.

Parents sending their wards to schools by autos should ensure that not more than five children were travelling in vehicles as per the High Court directive.

Ms.Muralidharan appealed to parents and school managements to cooperate with the district administration in ensuring that the rule was implemented properly.
