Tight security arrangements were made in the city in view of her visit
TIRUCHI: Queen Paola of Belgium was accorded a warm reception when she arrived here on Tuesday for a brief visit to the city.
Collector T. Soundiah, City Police Commissioner Alexander Mohan and District Revenue Officer Srivenkatapriya were among those who received the queen at the Airport, where she arrived by a special aircraft from Chennai.
The queen drove straight to the campus of Holy Family Hansenorium at Fathima Nagar. The queen’s entourage included Kareel De Gucht, Ghislain D’Hoop, Head of Foreign Relations Department, Royal Palace, Belgium, Jean M.Deboutte, Belgium Ambassador to India, and Renier Nijskens, Director, South and East Asia, Oceania, Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Corporation. They later left in the afternoon.
