ARIYALUR: At Sendhurai taluk office, Collector Anil Meshram checked the functioning of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to be used in the polling booths in Ariyalur and Jayamkondam assembly segments, falling under the Chidambaram Parliamentary constituency, on Friday.

An official press release said a five-member team from the Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore checked the EVMs from February 19 to 21. The release further said the Collector checked whether the EVMs which would be used in 237 polling booths in Jayamkondam assembly segment and 246 polling booths in Ariyalur assembly constituency besides additional EVMs functioned properly.

A total of 600 EVMs would be used in Ariyalur district. District Revenue Officer K. Pulamadan and other officials accompanied the Collector.

Another release said the meeting of Booth Level Officials and Booth Level Agents of Ariyalur and Jayamkondam assembly segments which as scheduled for Friday has been postponed to March 3 due to administrative reasons.
