There are 15,54,633 voters in Thanjavur district according to the electoral rolls released for local body elections by the District Collector K.Baskaran here on Tuesday.

Of the total voters, 7,75,555 are male and 7,79,078 are female voters, Mr.Baskaran told reporters.

The Thanjavur municipality has a voter strength of 1,45,469 of whom 71,588 are males and 73,886 are females.

There are 44,193 voters in Pattukottai municipality out of whom 21,888 are male and 22,305 are female.

In Kumbakonam municipality there are 86,019 voters of whom 42,629 are male and 43,390 are female. In the 14 panchayat unions in the district, there are 10,86,689 voters of whom 5,43,944 are male and 5,42,745 are female.

In 22 Town panchayats in the district, there are 1,92,283 voters of whom 95,511 are male and 96,752 are female. There will be 644 polling booths in urban areas and 2608 booths in rural areas.

The Panchayat unions are Thanjavur, Thiruvaiyaru, Budalur, Orathanadu, Thiruvonam, Kumbakonam, Thiruvidaimaruthur, Thirupanandal, Papanasam, Ammapettai, Pattukottai, Madukkur, Peravurani and Sethubavachathiram.

C.Suresh Kumar, District Revenue Officer, and Varadarajan, Project Director, DRDA, were present.
