Copy of Kirthanas of Gopalakrishna Bharathi released

CHENNAI: Carnatic vocalist T.M. Krishna was on Saturday felicitated at the Anandathandavapuram Gopalakrishna Bharathi First Annual Music Festival in Chennai.

N.K. Moorthy, president of the music committee and M. Murali, chairman of Sri Krishna Sweets, presented mementos to Mr. Krishna.

A copy of the Pancharathna Kirthanas composed by Gopalakrishna Bharathi was released on the occasion by Kaatha K. Duraisamy, Director (In-Charge), All India Radio, Karaikal. The first copy of the book was released by V. Ramanathan, former Additional Superintendent of Police. Speakers extolled the devotion of Gopalakrishna Bharathi to Nataraja, the lord of dance.

Bharatanatyam exponent Shobhana Ramesh gave away prizes to winners of the music competition conducted by the festival committee.

Human resources development speaker V. Raman, R. Vaidyanathan, advisor, corporate affairs, Aditya Birla Management and Pavalar S. Rajamanikkam, participated.

The programme was followed by a vocal concert by T.M. Krishna, accompanied by S. Varadarajan on the violin, J. Vaidyanathan on the mridangam and S. Karthik on the ghatam.
