The Directorate of Field Publicity organised an awareness programme on National Rural Drinking Water Scheme (NRDWS) at South Sithambur village in Musiri block recently. The programme was jointly organised by the Rural Drinking Water Division and SCOPE NGO.

A large number of students of the panchayat union middle school, Sithambur, participated in the essay writing and elocution competition. S. P. Suresh, South Sithambur panchayat vice president, and E. Kalyani, school headmistress, gave away prizes to the winners.

Self-help groups participated in rangoli and folk song competition. P. Vasudevan, assistant engineer, Rural Water Supply, Musiri sub-division, said the government had fixed a target of minimum 40 litre of drinking water per day for the people residing in rural areas. He urged the people to use water economically.
