Vigilance Awareness Week was observed in 59 branches in the Salem zone (Salem and Namakkal districts) of the Indian Bank from October 31 to November 5.
A zonal-level meeting was held in Salem Zonal Office which was presided over by S. Sengottaiyan, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Salem.
He delivered a special address on “Preventive Vigilance in Public Sector Undertaking”.
Participants included staff of zonal office, branch managers, officers and staff from Salem city and peripheral branches.
The chief guest stressed on the preventive vigilance rather than punitive vigilance. Earlier, Zonal Manager G. Muthappan welcomed the gathering and N. Chinnannan, Chief Manager, Salem main branch, proposed a vote of thanks.
Salem Railway Division also observed Vigilance Week. The week started with pledge-taking by the staff, administered by the Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Division, Sujatha Jayaraj.
She emphasised on the importance of personal integrity and the knowledge of rules, the lack of which creates trouble on most of the occasions.
Presiding over the function, P. Kalimuthu, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Selvam, Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer, Headquarters, Southern Railway, Sundaresan, Senior Vigilance Officer, Headquarters, Southern Railway, and V.N.M. Rao, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunications Engineer, Salem Division, addressed the gathering on various aspects of vigilance.
A skit titled ‘Mr. Clean' which was enacted by the staff of Headquarters, Southern Railway, emphasising the importance of integrity in public life, was well-received by the gathering.
Sriranganayaki, Assistant Personnel Officer, Salem Division, proposed a vote of thanks.
