Minister for Higher Education P. Palaniappan inaugurated a veterinary sub-centre at V. Muthampatti in Dharmapuri Panchayat Union in Dharmapuri district on Saturday.

Inaugurating the centre Mr. Palaniappan said that the Chief Minister had instructed that fifty veterinary sub-centres be established across the State. This included two sub-centres at V. Muthampatti and Panchapalli in Dharmapuri district.

About 350 livestock inspectors were being given training at the district cattle farms in Mukundarayapuram, Pudukkottai and Hosur.

As soon as the training was over, all of them would be inducted in the veterinary centres and sub-centres. There are five veterinary health centres in the district.

With the opening of the sub-centre at V. Muthampatti, 1,500 milch cows and 100 buffaloes will get the facility for artificial insemination. The new sub-centre will benefit cattle in surrounding villages such as Sikkampatti, Sikkambattithanda and Mangalakottai.

Besides this, the facilities such as first aid for cattle, vaccination and other facilities would also be available to the cattle, he said.

Funds were allocated for laying roads from Bommidi to V. Muthampatti and providing drinking water facilities at Bodualli villages under the MLA Area Development Fund. The high school at V. Muthamaptti would be upgraded to higher secondary, the Minister said.

P. Ramar, District Revenue Officer, presided over the function. T.R. Anbazhagan, Chairman, District Panchayat participated, according to a press release.
