The annual Summer Festival for this year will begin at Kotagiri this week. The 7th Annual Vegetable Show which will be organized by the Department of Horticulture at the Nehru Park in Kotagiri on May 3 and 4 will lift the curtain on the festival. The Nilgiris district administration and the Horticulture department are leaving no stone unturned in making the show colourful and memorable. A variety of exhibits made of vegetables will be on show.Vegetable carvings would be a highlight of the show.

The stalls will include those of the department in ten districts including Ariyalur,Dindigul,

Erode,Perambalur, Sivaganga,Thanjavur,Tirupur,

Tiruchi, Vellore and Villupuram.

The host will display two giant size mushrooms made out of about 500 kilograms of cauliflower.

By way of encouraging vegetable cultivation, best vegetable fields and kitchen gardens would be given prizes.
