: Litigants who have been waiting in the corridors of court complexes for justice for decades had received their compensation thanks to quick clearance of pending cases by the Vedasandur Sub-Court.

Despite many odds, the court had cleared 200 cases within 30 days, ending November, from the date of inauguration. (The court was inaugurated by the High Court Judge S. Tamilvanan on October 28.)

In a month, the court had cleared 17 appeal petitions, 24 civil cases, 21 diverse cases, 19 compensation, six excutive cases and 116 inter-locketry petitions till November end.

The Sub-Court judge K. Venkitachalam cleared five motor accident claims petitions on Wednesday.

In the first case, Mookan (50) of Indira Colony at Kollapatti in Vedasandur was knocked down by a van in August 2011. He died on the spot. His wife M. Dhanam and two daughters M. Muthu Lakshmi and M. Lakshmi sought suitable compensation. The judge awarded a compensation of Rs.10 lakh to the petitioners.

In the second case, pillion rider Prabakaran (22) was injured in a road accident that took place at 10.30 p.m. on November 17, 2010 on Vadamadurai-Eriyode main road. A compensation of Rs.1.81,500 was given.

In the third case, Perisamy (50) was injured in road accident while he was approaching National Highwy-7 in his motorcycle on July 7, 2008 near a petrol bunk in Vedasandur. He was given a compensation of Rs.73,200.

In the fourth case, Munusamy (53) was thrown out of the bus proceeding to Puliampatti from Karur on November 17, 2008 when the driver applied sudden brake. He was grievously injured. A compensation of Rs.72,200 was given to him.

In the fifth case, Thirumalaisamy (62) was knocked down by an unidentified motorcycle in Vedasandur block. The court awarded a compensation of Rs.94,800 to the injured.
