Valuation centre planned

TIRUCHI: Bharathidasan University would construct a Storage Building and Valuation Centre for evaluating and stocking the examination papers and for immediate retrieval of answer sheets for revaluation whenever needed, Vice-Chancellor M. Ponnavaikko said here.

Addressing the principals of colleges affiliated to the University at a meeting convened by the University to evolve the academic strategy, Mr. Ponnavaikko said that the difficulty in retrieving the answer sheets of candidates seeking revaluation of papers currently delayed the process.

He attributed lack of infrastructure facility in stocking the answer sheets at the University.

Dr. Ponnavaikko pointed out that he had taken steps for the construction of an exclusive building for storage and valuation of answer-sheets.

Earlier, Director of Bharathidasan University College at Orathanadu T. K. Swatantradevi said that re-valuation of papers often resulted in obtaining higher marks.

Laying emphasis on quality education, the Vice-Chancellor appealed to the principals to take maximum advantage of the syllabus module prepared by the University’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (IECD), the Department of Educational Technology, and the Academic Staff College.

The IECD, he said, had prepared, the syllabus content for the skill-oriented courses which would be posted on the University’s website.

The IECD would construct a ‘Lab for Innovation’ at its campus in the city and set up career guidance centres at eight districts under the University’s jurisdiction.
