CHENNAI: Poompuhar offers a perfect excuse to splurge during festive season by bringing all its signature handicrafts under one roof.
At its ‘Festival Fair’ organised at C.P.Arts Centre, a good variety of jewellery and clothes are lined up for the seasonal shoppers. Beads, which are now in vogue, come in various colours. Semiprecious to precious stones, beads such as pearl, coral, sand stone and turquoise are strung in various lengths to suit the needs of the customers.
Kundan sets in one-gram gold, jewellery with antique finish, silver and metal jewellery, earrings, chokers and pearl and stone-studded bangles are on display.
Gift articles come with an ethnic touch at the exhibition. Wood in-lay works from Mysore, Thanjavur paintings, Moradabad gold and silver-coated cutleries, flower vases and enamel bowls are part of the exhibits. Agarbathis and herbal face packs are also on show.
Wall panels in jute are given exquisite touch with multi-hued paintings. Embroidered jute hand bags bordered with zaris and paintings made out of wooden bits are new arrival this season. The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., till December 22.
