Village Administrative Officer of Kumarasamipatti here was on Monday arrested by the sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) on charges of taking a bribe of Rs. 15,000 for issuing transfer patta.

R. Thiyagarajan (40) of Maravaneri and R. Kandasamy (42) were brothers and has ancestral property of six acres. As per the court’s direction, they had partitioned the land. Since the land in his father’s name need to be transferred in his name, Thiyagarajan approached VAO G. Yuvaraj (41) for transferring the patta. The VAO demanded Rs. 15,000 for the purpose. Thiyagarajan alerted the DVAC. On Monday, a team led by DVAC Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandramouli laid a trap and caught Yuvaraj red-handed while accepting the money in his office.

The DVAC registered a case under Section 7 and 13 (a) r/w 13(1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding and receiving bribe and arrested him. He was produced in the court and was remanded.
