CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police on Thursday arrested a Village Administrative Officer on charges of taking a bribe of Rs.22,000 from a petitioner.

According to an official release, S. Prabhu of Sriperumbudur had applied for a property value certificate to which the Village Administrative Officer , D. Rajasekharan, of Uthiramerur taluk demanded bribe.

A trap was laid and the official was caught red-handed after he accepted the money.

The accused was arrested and let on bail.
