CHENGAM: Valuables worth Rs. one lakh were stolen from Primary Agriculture Cooperative Bank at Melrawandavadi near Chengam in Tiruvannamalai district on Wednesday night.

Police said that some unidentified men broke open the entrance door of the bank and entered the bank midnight on Wednesday night. At that time it was heavily raining at Melrawandavadi and there was no power.

As soon as the burglars entered the bank power supply was restored. The security siren inside the bank started blowing.

The burglars got alert and fled away with two laptops and a camera kept inside the bank.

Police said that hearing the alert signal local people belonging to the village came out and informed the bank officials.

A complaint was lodged at the Melchengam Police Station.
