The police force here has been strengthened with the transfer of 276 Grade II constables from the Armed Reserve wing to the police stations. All the 54 police stations in the district are likely to get at least five to eight policemen based on the vacancies. Orders to this effect were issued by Superintendent of Police S. Maheswaran a couple of days back. It is expected to ease pressure on the police force since manpower shortage was plaguing police stations. This exercise follows recent introduction of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems here.
