Entrepreneurs should optimally utilise the natural resources including weather conditions prevailing in Tiruvarur district for promoting industrial and production activities, said S.Natarajan, Collector.

The district ranks third in the State next to Nilgris and Kanyakumari in the areas of facilities, weather conditions and availability of water, the basic needs for starting a viable industry, Mr. Natarajan said presiding over a programme to mark district level entrepreneurship development scheme, motivation for entrepreneurs and generation of employment opportunities for the educated and unemployed youth, organised by the District Industries Centre.

Explaining the factors for turning successful entrepreneurs, Mr. Natarajan said that the training would expose them through various sessions for preparing the project, gaining confidence and determination with hard work to reach the goal. He appealed to the participants to benefit from the lecture sessions. K. Sushil Kumar, Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation, spoke on the corporation’s support for starting industries.

N. M. Sivasamy, senior regional manager, Indian Overseas Bank, Nagapattinam, explained the credit facility provided by the nationalised banks. B.Ramamoorthy, chief manager, National Small Industries Corporation, Chennai, spoke on the opportunities available for marketing the goods produced small scale industries.

R.Viswanathan, assistant director, spoke on the training and the schemes being implemented by the Central government.

S. Ravichandran, president, Tiruvarur District Small and Medium Industries Association, M. Pandian, general manager (in-charge), District Industries Centre and others spoke.

Mr. Natarajan gave away financial assistance worth Rs. 20.25 lakhs to educated unemployed youth.
