Institutions in Madurai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad also sign the MoUs
Joint degree programmes to help Indian students get international academic experience SJU Philadelphia Study Tour Programme in April 2006 for undergraduate students
CHENNAI: Saint Joseph's University (SJU), Philadelphia, signed MoUs with Loyola College and Stella Maris College on academic collaboration.
Arul Anandar College from Madurai, Xaviers Institute of Education and Xavier Institute of Management, Mumbai, and Xavier's College, Ahmedabad, also signed the MoUs.
Timothy R. Lannon, university president, said the SJU strategy of growth in India was three-pronged.
Besides partnership with the above colleges, they would also offer joint degree programmes for Indian students to enable them get international academic experience with globally accepted degrees at affordable rates.
They would launch joint programmes in Health Administration, Education, Biological Sciences and Computer Science. The SJU would also offer the SJU Philadelphia Study Tour Programme in April 2006 for undergraduate students at institutions across India.
The SJU Study Tour has been successfully introduced in Singapore and Malaysia. The students get an opportunity to attend two summer courses at SJU.
The university plans to introduce scholarships. Eight students will be short-listed based on an all-India essay competition. The topper will win an all-paid trip and the second gets a full tuition and stay scholarship.
The remaining will get half tuition and full stay scholarships. More details about the scholarships will be made available over the next two weeks.
