A local court here on Wednesday extended the custody of 35 men, including crew members of the detained US ship, until December 10.

Judicial Magistrate in Tuticorin, C. Kathiravan passed the order after hearing arguments through video conference.

Custody of the five local fishermen who were alleged to have supplied 2,000 litres of diesel to the crew in the same case was also extended.

The US ship –‘Seaman Guard Ohio’ was apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard ship-‘Naikidevi’ on October 12.

The 35 crew aboard the vessel were detained subsequently on charges of trespassing into Indian waters and possessing weapons.
