TIRUCHI: Collector T. Soundiah on Wednesday inspected the progress of the developmental works being executed under different schemes in Uppiliapuram panchayat union.

The developmental works are being implemented at a cost of Rs. 1.54 crore under the NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) and National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme schemes.

Works such as laying of black topped road, strengthening of roads and construction of group houses are being carried out in village panchayats including E. Padharpettai, Kamatchipuram and Maradi.

An official press release said the Collector also inspected the sites identified for carrying out the developmental works under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam during 2009-10.

Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency J. Dhanasekaran and other revenue officials accompanied the Collector.
