Responding to suggestions made by students and professors at a discussion meeting held at the University that uniform syllabus was essential, the Vice-Chancellor said that this matter was discussed at the Vice-Chancellors’ meeting held recently where the need for a uniform syllabus was emphasised.

Tamil University has taken up the task of preparing a uniform syllabus for Tamil in B.A., M.A courses, to be followed by all colleges and Universities in the State.

The discussion was organised to mark the birthday celebrations of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Union Education Minister.

Azad’s birthday

“The late Azad, being an educationist, journalist, poet, etc, we thought it fit to make on his birthday a worthwhile discussion on higher education,” the VC said.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the research papers of the University were brought out in news bulletins.

Steps had been taken to upload them on the University website.

Digitisation of books

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has come forward to digitise books published prior to 1950 for the University, Rajendran said.
