: Collector Ashish Kumar took stock of the underground drainage work under way in various parts of Tuticorin on Thursday and instructed the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board officials to expedite the task. According to a statement, the work is being executed at a cost of Rs.95 crore in localities under the Tuticorin corporation limit. The Collector interacted with the officials to know about the progress in the work and checked its quality. Delay in execution of underground drainage work was causing hardship to pedestrians and vehicle-users in Tuticorin, he said, and instructed the corporation officials, who accompanied him, to lay roads where work was completed.
