TAMBARAM: A total of 16 two-wheelers parked near the Adambakkam police station were destroyed in a fire on Wednesday evening.

Police said a marriage procession had just crossed the police station, when some persons who were part of it, lit firecrackers, including “rockets.”

One of them is reported to have fallen on a thatched hut where several motorcycles and scooters seized in connection with different crime cases were parked.

The hut caught fire in which 16 two-wheelers were destroyed.

Following information, a fire tender from Velachery rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
