CHENNAI: Two sisters, one of them a teenager, were killed after an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train hit them near the Perambur station on Friday.

According to sources in Railway Police, Sathya (21) and Nithya (18), sisters staying in Perambur, were crossing the track in the afternoon near the Perambur bus depot when the accident occurred.

They were going to take a bus from the road on the other side of the track.

Nithya died on the way to the Government General Hospital. Sathya died a few hours later at the GH. Both bodies were sent for post-mortem. The Perambur Railway Police are investigating.
