Continuing the crackdown on foreigners staying illegally in the city, the police arrested two Nigerians from Tirupur South sub-division limits on Friday evening.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Tirupur South) R. Rajaram said Desmond Osinaka (30) and Jeffry Amara were arrested from Thekku Thottam area under Section 14 of Foreigners’ Act, 1946.

Mr. Rajaram said during questioning, Jeffry Amara claimed that he came to India for medical treatment and Desmond Osinaka for studies. However, the visa of Desmond Osinaka had expired on November 25, 2012, whereas the other Nigerian did not have any valid travel documents to substantiate his claims. With the arrest of the duo, a total of four Nigerians had been arrested since the district police began the operation against overstaying foreigners on Thursday evening.
