The city police have arrested two brothers — J.Syed Ibrahim (29) and J.Sadam Hussain (25) — of Abiramam of Ramanathapuram district on charges of kidnapping and assaulting one N.Akbar Ali Khan (45) of Jaihindpuram.

The police said the brothers, with the help of one Kalimuthu, had whisked away Akbar in car two days back for non-repayment of dues to the tune of Rs.1.87 lakh. Akbar had bought 80 goats from the brothers, who run a farm, in 2012.

The victim alleged that he was locked up and beaten. He was forced to sign in a stamp paper. However, the brothers’ father Jawarullah Khan had let him go.

Unrecognised school

The Thilagar Thidal police have registered a case against two administrative officers of a nursery school functioning near Thathaneri for collecting fees from a student even as it had no recognition from the State Government.

The police said K.Selvam had complained that the school authorities had collected Rs.3,700 from him for admitting his daughter to UKG, even as it gave receipt only for Rs.2,000.

Subsequently, he came to know that the school did not have the necessary recognition from the government.

Idol desecrated

An idol of Lord Ganesha was found desecrated at a temple underneath the road overbridge in South Gate in the early hours of Tuesday.

The cement idol, measuring around 1.5 feet, was immediately removed from the small pedestal.

The iron grill gate on the temple had been left unlocked, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, A.Ganesan, said.

A few yards away, the name board of a caste-based organisation was also damaged. The police suspect that somebody drunk would have been behind the incidents.
