SALEM: Two women died of burns and another sustained third degree burns, when one of them allegedly attempted to commit suicide by immolating herself in Ammapet here on Thursday. Police said Shanthi (32) of 40-feet-Road colony poured kerosene on herself and set herself afire in her house following a family dispute. It was said that she, after setting herself afire, fell on her mother-in-law Pushpa (60) and her sister-in-law Shanthi (40), who were in the house at that time. Neighbours rescued the three and admitted them at the Salem Government Medical College Hospital. Shanthi and her sister-in-law died at the hospital. A case was registered.
