VELLORE: Two persons were killed in different accidents in Vellore.

Saraswathi (30), wife of R. Arun of Erode, who was travelling in a car died on the spot and five other occupants of the car were injured when the vehicle in which they were proceeding to Erode dashed against the rear of a granite-laden container lorry on the flyover on Chennai-Bangalore National Highway above the junction of New Bypass Road and Katpadi Road here in the early hour of Monday.

The injured M. Rangasamy (35), Anitha (29), wife of Shanmugam, R. Arun (35), V. Veeramani (44) and Arogyasamy (55), all belonging to Erode have been admitted to the Christian Medical College Hospital here.

B. Venkatesan (36) of Kolathur Kuppam who was riding a motorcycle was injured when another two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction from Katpadi dashed against his vehicle while he was turning to the right at MGR statue in Gandhinagar on the Cuddalore-Chittoor Road on Saturday night. Venkatesan fell down and sustained grievous injuries as his head hit the concrete foundation of the central median. He was admitted to the Government General Hospital, Chennai, where he succumbed to the injuries on Monday.

Suresh (29) of Kasikuttai who was riding the other motorcycle also sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in the Government Vellore Medical College Hospital in Adukkamparai.
