Anamalai Police have arrested Muthukrishnan, 41, and Selvaraj, 21, of Pollachi on charges of robbing their employer of Rs. 1.50 lakh.

They worked for a milk supplier and had robbed the money that was due to it from retailers.

The duo’s job was to collect the money and hand it over to its employer.

The police said that while returning with the collection money on Friday morning, the two called up the police saying that unidentified persons by spraying chilli powder on their eyes, took away cash amounting to Rs. 1.50 lakh.

When the police inquired the two separately, they found them narrating two different versions of the event. Upon suspicion when the police grilled them, the two confessed to the crime.

Based on Muthukrishnan’s statement, the police recovered the cash from his house.

Youth caught

Members of the public in Samichettipalayam, near P.N. Palayam, caught hold of a youth who tried to rob Nagadeepa.

They later handed over Rangasamy, 23, of Karamadai to the P.N. Palayam police. When Nagadeepa of Karpooram Nagar was walking near her house, Rangasamy had attempted to snatch the jewellery but the alert woman raised a cry.

Residents rushed to her help, caught hold of the person and handed him over to the police, who had registered a case and arrested him.
