CHENNAI: Two persons arrested in connection with the Kelly Baker case have moved the court of the Principal Sessions Judge seeking bail in the case.

In the petition filed by counsel R.C. Paul Kanagaraj, Jose Mathew (41) and Saji John (35) of Villivakkam said they were arrested by the Teynampet police and remanded to judicial custody for an alleged offence under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 354 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 379 (punishment for theft) of the IPC.

The petitioners submitted that the entire allegations against them were false. Their own confession would reveal that no offence had been made out against them.

Their earlier bail application was dismissed by the XVIII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet.

They said that they were ready to abide by any condition imposed by the court. They were permanent residents of the city.

They were innocent and in no way connected with the alleged offence.

They were ready to produce solvent sureties for their appearance.

The matter has been posted for hearing on June 9.
